Not a tourist tonight.

We arrived in Madrid this evening at 9.11pm and had 19 minutes to get in a taxi, check into the hotel, and find a bar to watch the game...we just missed kick-off...but found ourselves in the most perfect of local restaurants. The restaurant is called, The Restaurante Parador Hortaleza (Hortaleza, 23)

The menu was only in Spanish - the first positive. The second positive, the fact that they have mixed paella on the menu. The third positive is the fact that the walls or lime green, and would match the pants I bought at Uterque while we were in Sevilla. The restaurant owner seems to have an affinity for green...and not just one colour of green...all greens...and somehow it works, in a great local kind of way! I almost forgot the pumpkins...yes, pumpkins...which look as though they were bought last Halloween and then forgotten about!

We were offered a tapas...I must admit that the mushed pea (there's green again!!) didn't really entice us and we kindly turned it down! My mom would not be impressed! The paella was good - full of good seafood and chicken and the company was great, and so was the service.

This is the perfect gem of a local bar!
